What is alberello?
It is a training system in which every vine grows as a low, free-standing bush rather than along a continuous wire wall. It shelters the fruit and demands considerable hand work.
Why does it suit Puglia?
The low canopy helps the vine live with sun, wind and dry conditions. It is not rustic decoration; it is precise agricultural architecture.
What does vine age change?
Age alone guarantees nothing. A balanced old plant can, however, carry a small crop evenly and express a long relationship with its soil.
